INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed singers Angelique Kidjo, Johnny Clegg and the Soweto Gospel Choir are in the line-up of musicians who will entertain at the final draw of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in Cape Town next Friday.
Also in attendance will be Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron and a host of other Hollywood A-listers.
The draw will be done at the International Convention Centre and the musicians are part of the bigger razzmatazz being put on to show what a memorable World Cup those coming to our shores can look forward to.
Kidjo, pictured, who was born in Cotonou, Benin, in 1960 is a Grammy-winning singer and songwriter .
She sings fluently in Fon, French, Yoruba and began singing in English in 1982. In 1991 she dropped her first international offering, Logozo, which reached number one on the Billboard World Music chart.
Now based in Paris, Kidjo is a versatile singer who can sing anything from Afro- funk, reggae, samba, salsa, and jazz to Zairean rumba.
Clegg has been a favourite of local and international audiences for a long time, while the Soweto Gospel Choir has endeared itself both at home and abroad.
