Red Devils shift focus to FA Cup

London – Manchester United already have one hand on the Premier League title and the League Cup tucked in the bag and tomorrow the red juggernaut rolls up at Fulham’s Craven Cottage on track for the FA Cup.

The sixth-round tie comes in the middle of a hectic period for Alex Ferguson’s side, who beat Newcastle United 2-1 on Wednesday to retain their seven-point lead in the title race, but the thought of scooping all five competitions they entered this season will drive them on.

As well as the League Cup, which they won on penalties against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, United have also captured Fifa’s Club World Cup and are well-placed to reach the quarterfinals of the Champions League after drawing 0-0 with Inter Milan in the San Siro.

Also tomorrow, Chelsea are away at Championship (second division) Coventry City, while on Sunday Arsenal host Championship high-flyers Burnley hoping to avenge a League Cup defeat earlier in the season . Everton host Middlesbrough on Sunday .

Fulham defender Paul Konchesky told the club’s website: “We’re playing in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup against one of the best teams in the world. That’s the sort of game every player wants to be involved in .” Reuters
