Dr Lucky Mazibuko is the first self-declared HIV positive columnist in Africa. He writes a weekly HIV/Aids column which appears every Wednesday in the Sowetan.
The column commenced in 1999, at a time when talking openly about living with HIV was unthinkable.
Mazibuko received an Honorary Doctorate, the doctor of humane letters, from the R.R. Wright Seminary based in the United States of America in 2001.
He is also a former HIV/Aids Programs Director for the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Mazibuko is the Founder of the Lucky Mazibuko Scholarship which assists disadvantaged matriculants to further their studies at tertiary level in partnership with Rosebank College.
