The most dramatic shift in SABC’s new radio line-up that premieres today comes from Ukhozi FM with Khathide "Tshatha" Ngobe demoted from the breakfast show to a graveyard slot.
Ngobe, who has been on suspension for three months, will shift to the 12am to 3am timeslot from Monday to Wednesday. He will also host the 12pm to 3pm show on Saturday. Sipho Mbatha, who was the host of the station’s breakfast show returns to the slot. Mbatha will be joined by Nonhlanhla “Mroza” Buthelezi from 6.30am to 9am weekdays.
“Ukhozi FM continues to dominate and be a leader in the radio broadcasting space and believes that this will continue in the 2021/2022 fiscal year as we prepare to deliver quality programming and listener engagements through exciting marketing campaigns,” said Sibongiseni Ngcobo, the station’s business manager.
Motsweding FM’s weekdays and weekend line-up remains unchanged, with Lucky “LTK” Komanisi being joined by the addition of Nelly Moruri on the afternoon drive show. Amon Mokoena and Tumi Morake will enter the third year of their popular breakfast show on the station, DiRage, which boasts over one million listeners.
With the departure of Msizi James, Rob Forbes and Fikile “Fix” Moeti, 5fm will introduce a number of new names. Dan Corder moves from Good Hope FM to take over breakfast on 5fm. SAFM weekend breakfast broadcaster Mathapelo Moloi joins Corder as the show’s news reader.
The award-winning Kea Boya has joined 5fm hosting the 2pm to 5pm timeslot on Saturday and Sunday. Koketso Sechane, Sheila Ndikumana and Kutlwano Masote have all joined SAfm.
“We are excited to welcome new presenters to the SAfm family and we wish them well. They all bring a wealth of knowledge to the station,” said SAFM acting station manager Kina Nhlengethwa. “It is vital to keep abreast and adapt to the ever-changing media landscape and serve our audiences holistically”.
Umhlobo Wenene has announced the return of legendary broadcaster Putco Mafani and an introduction of a newbie Ongeziwe Mjana. Mafani will present sports show Ezemidlalo on Mondays to Thursdays between 7pm to 8pm. He will also present a Saturday morning sports show, Ezemidlalo Nolonwabo from 7am.
Mjana will host a sport show on Saturday and Sunday between 3pm and 6pm.
Eastern Cape regional station TruFm has announced its new line up that sees Reggie Solani and AJ Maclean hosting TruBreakfast on weekdays from 6am to 9am. The duo will be followed by Blaq Maci in the mid-morning show from 9am to 11.30am.
Metro FM is only expected to unveil their new line-up today.
