The three-day campaign, dubbed #987Women, will launch for the seventh consecutive year on Wednesday under the theme “to those who show up differently, we say power”.

Also joining the line-up is Gomora actor Katlego Danke, media personality Ayanda Thabethe, EFF treasurer-general Omphile Maotwe, minister of communications and digital technologies Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, ANC deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte and chairman of IDF Capital Polo Leteka.

Kubayi-Ngubane will open this year’s line-up  on Power Breakfast from 6am to 9am.

Women’s Day is particularly a special day for Tunzi as she was crowned Miss SA on this day two years ago before going on to win Miss Universe.

“I’m so excited to be joining the Power FM line-up commemorating Women’s Month. People can expect the show to be fun, empowering and inspirational. Most importantly, like everything I do, this too will be done with love,” Tunzi told Sowetan on Monday.

“Women’s Day is an important day for me as I like to think of August 9 2019 as the first day to the beginning of the rest of my life. My life changed in the most amazing way and I will forever be grateful for it.”

Former CEO of the Solidarity Fund, Nomkhita Nqweni, will be a guest host of Power Lunch between 12pm and 3pm while Barloworld group executive for corporate affairs Gugu Sepamla will do Power Drive between 3pm and 6pm.

Leteka will take over the reins from Khaya Sithole as she guest hosts for Power Business between 6pm and 8pm.

“I’m excited to be talking about unlocking the economic potential and power of the African continent,” Leteka said.

Thabethe and Danke will co-host Power Breakfast on Thursday.

“For me showing up differently means asserting yourself in the world and being bold – going after everything that sets your soul on fire. We will be discussing that and many other topics,” Thabethe said.

Ndamase will guest host Power Lunch on the same day.

“We’re very excited about the texture of the 2021 #987Woman line-up – at a time when our collective mental state as a country is geared towards having deep conversations, asking questions about the world of work, the economy, politics and the overall human experience,” said Sibongile Gangxa, Power FM commercial and stakeholder relations manager.

“The ladies in our line-up are an embodiment of the agility, resilience, grace and creativity it takes to reimagine one’s life – both as a professional and as a woman. We have gone for a variety of names and voices from a range of sectors and generational perspectives to also give our listeners an intergenerational and multi-sectoral experience over the three-day on-air takeover.”
