Mercedes-Benz SA has announced that its CEO, Andreas Brand, will step down from his role on May 31.
Brand will take up a new position within Mercedes-Benz Group as head of supply chain management for global customer services and parts, based in Stuttgart, Germany.
He joined Mercedes-Benz in 1997 in Rastatt, Germany, and has held a range of roles in production and planning both locally and internationally. Earlier in his career, he was involved in establishing production operations in Kecskemét, Hungary, where he oversaw the press and body shops during the plant’s construction and launch phase.
In 2013, Brand moved to the Sindelfingen plant, where he led the painted body department at Factory One. He later served as chief engineer for production on the global compact car platform and went on to oversee integrated programme planning, including during the Covid-19 pandemic and global semiconductor shortage.
Brand was appointed CEO and executive director of manufacturing at Mercedes-Benz South Africa in 2022. During his tenure, he oversaw operations at the company’s KuGompo City (East London) plant, which produces the C-Class for global markets.
In December 2025, he also assumed responsibility for CKD and mid-volume production alongside his role as CEO.
Mercedes-Benz South Africa said a successor will be announced in due course.
