Not even the two-hour long wait could dampen the spirits of Gauteng teachers who showed up for the vaccination drive through at Grace Bible Church in Pimville, Soweto, on Wednesday.
There was a long queue of motorists waiting to be given the Johnson & Johnson jabs. It was only at 15 minutes before 11am when the first car was allowed to drive through.
Daniel Tshwagong, 56, of Hoerkool Tegniese Langlaagte, said he had been waiting since 10am.
"It's the first day and it was bound to have challenges. The advantage is that it's a drive-through, so we have been sitting comfortably in our cars," Tsgwagong said.
Another teacher, Dorah Nameka, 46, from Ditau Primary School, said it was worth the wait.
"I am excited about today, and not even this long wait will dampen my spirits. We arrived at 9:30am and as you can see there is still a number of cars in front us but they say good things come to those who wait," she said.
Minister Angie Motshekga's spokesperson Hope Mokgatlhe said there was a delay as it took few hours to get the teachers data but the turn out was huge.
