A former speaker of a municipality in Limpopo has lost the fight to get his job back.

Lepelle-Nkumpi local municipality’s former speaker, Phukuwe Ntsoane, approached the ANC’s National Dispute Resolution Committee (NDRC) to challenge the Peter Mokaba region’s decision and processes, which led to his removal in May.

In a letter to Ntsoane and the ANC’s provincial secretary, Soviet Lekganyane, on the outcome of the committee, the governing party’s national deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte said the committee found Peter Mokaba regional executive committee (REC) had consulted with the PEC on Ntsoane’s  removal and that he followed processes in raising his challenges.

“The committee received verbal and written reports from the PEC and REC as well a submission from yourselves [Ntsoane] as a complainant in writing and a verbal representation on May 13. On May 27, the NDRC consulted further with the PEC and the REC to gain additional information,” Duarte said in a letter dated June 24.

“Following the findings and the constitutional mandate of the ANC provincial executive committee (PEC) and REC, the NDRC found that the processes were followed and therefore recommend that the decision of the PEC be upheld.”

Ntsoane yesterday said he has accepted the committee’s outcomes. “I have accepted the decision of the NDRC with an open heart. I’m happy now that the issue has been laid to rest,” he said.
