On Tuesday, former police officer Nomia Rosemary Ndlovu was confident, engaging journalists and posing for photographs.
She even went as far as telling them how to photograph her and that she is dressed for the occasion.
It is always tricky for photographers to take pictures in court but Ndlovu was a willing and accommodating subject, or so I thought.
On Wednesday, when I covered the court proceedings, I expected to see a smiling and friendly Ndlovu again, but I met a different personality altogether– very irate and threatening towards photographers.
As she walked out for a bathroom break, she assaulted a photographer standing by the door, slapping his arm and pushing him as she reached for the door.
When she met with her mother for the first time in three years later after court proceedings, she reached for a plate of food prepared for her and threw it right at me.
Fortunately, I was in motion to move to get a better angle of the interaction with her mother and managed to move out of the way.
I was shocked.
Being at the receiving end of her anger outburst, on Thursday I decided to keep my distance and photograph at a reasonable distance from her, but that did not keep me from yet another attack– a snack attack – as she was led to the police van, she once again threw some Pringles [chips] that she had asked from a journalist.
Ndlovu has made a complete change of heart towards journalists, more so photographers, she has realised that she is not on a fashion runaway and that her life or freedom is on the line.
She is seemingly becoming more violent, threatening and a danger not only to those around her but to herself as well.
