Two people, one of them a man who earlier had allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death, have died in a car crash as they were on their way to dispose of the woman's body.
Mpumalanga police said the boyfriend of another woman who had helped hide the death is in a critical condition following a head-on collision which occurred along the R23 road in Standerton, Mpumalanga, on Tuesday morning.
Brig Selvy Mohlala said when police arrived at the scene, they found three dead people and a survivor. One of the deceased, a woman, had been stabbed.
“Further investigations proved that a female, 33, who was found on the scene had died earlier after being stabbed to death. Our investigation directs that two couples were having a party at one of the couple’s house.
"An argument broke between the one couple and the male, 31, allegedly stabbed the female, 33, to death. It’s then believed that the other couple helped the male in an attempt to conceal the death. However, on the R23 road, they were involved in the accident which led to the death of the male who stabbed his female companion and the female friend,” said Mohlala.
He said police are investigating a murder case and two counts of culpable homicide.
