Rebafeti Funeral Services owner Seabotseng Phetoe claims Simon Mogale had agreed to upgrade from a flat lid coffin to a three-tier one which costs more.
"He came to my office to claim we offered him the flat lid coffin that was part of his package but he said he didn't want that one anymore. He wanted a three-tier coffin and I told him he'd have to top up with R8,000 and the R1,500 to polish the tombstone and the grave fee.
"There was never an issue. He agreed and he paid the money willingly and we did his mother's service peacefully. I was surprised when he came to complain afterwards. He even went as far as to our association and they explained the situation to him. I don't owe him a cent," said Phetoe.
She said she explained her side of the story to Mogale's lawyer and was aware of the letter of demand sent to her.
Regarding the payment of premiums for the deceased for six months after their burial, Phetoe said she stopped that practice after she took over the business from her mother.
