Belinda Magor, the white woman behind the racist WhatsApp voice note, has been evicted by her landlord.
According to the landlord who spoke to Sowetan on condition of anonymity, Magor, 60, was served with a 30-day eviction notice on Friday morning after her identity was unveiled in the media.
“I got messages on WhatsApp on Friday around 10am of links to a story about what she [Magor] did. After I read it, I was very upset. I was not happy at all. I immediately gave her notice to leave my property. I do not want to associate myself with a racist. We do not want such people here,” said the landlord.
Magor lives on a plot in Putfontein, Ekurhuleni.
He said Magor was not happy when she received the notice. “She said she was sorry for what she said and was apologising. I do not tolerate such behaviour from her. She is a single old lady who is unemployed and I think she has mental issues. She says things without thinking about the consequences,” he said.
The landlord said Magor has been living alone on his property for five years and owns two pitbulls.
According to police, Magor was arrested on Friday and released the same day on a warning.
Gauteng police spokesperson Brig Brenda Muridili said a case of crimen injuria was opened on Friday at Boksburg North police station and transferred to Putfontein police station for investigation.
“The suspect, aged 60-years-old, was arrested and released the same day on a warning to appear in court on March 27 2023,” said Muridili.
Sowetan called Magor yesterday but her cellphone went to voicemail.
Magor’s voice note was shared in the WhatsApp group for pitbull owners called Pitbulls Be My Voice on Monday morning. The group has over 300 members from different races across the country, who were left in shock by her racial utterances.

In the voice note, she could be heard saying that black men were “worse than pitbulls”.
“Ban the black man. They rape, steal, and kill, worse than any pit bull could, and they get away with it. Ban those that are making the laws, ban Ekurhuleni, ban the black man. Get all the black women and cut out their uteruses and ovaries that they cannot procreate because they will all turn out the same because they are all the same... Kill them, shoot them, and get rid of them because they are the problem, not pitbulls, not animals... God created those animals. Who created the black man? Do you think God did, I don’t think so,” said Magor in the voice note.
Her outburst came during a discussion about the spate of attacks by pitbulls on children in recent weeks, which led to some people calling for the total ban of the breed as pets.
South African Human Rights Commission’s Andre Gaum said the he was not aware of the arrest but said the commission was able to trace Magor.
The commission has written a letter of demand to Magor but would not disclose its contents.
“On the face of it, what she said is appalling and horrific. It is hate speech of the worst possible kind. It is horrible and prima facie what she said is incitement to violence. I say prima facie because we still have to look into the matter and that is why we have decided to write a letter of demand. The letter should be sent to her by Monday[today],” said Gaum.
