Crawford International Pretoria College has suspended a substitute teacher who was caught on video writing derogatory words on a class whiteboard during a lesson.

In the video, which has since gone viral, the teacher, is seen writing words like k***r and n****r and their meaning according to her. A number of the learners are seen recording her while others object to the contents of the lesson. Its unclear when the video was captured, however, the school released a statement in which it regrets the incident.

“The temporary teacher has been informed not to resume her duties and the school reserves its rights regarding further action.” It further states that the teacher was brought in on a short-term basis after one of their staff members fell ill.

“Our commitment to maintaining an environment of respect, diversity and inclusion remains steadfast.”
