There are some battles you just can't win alone, or at least overnight, but that first step is always important.
The president has been tackling the issue of corruption lately, and we first saw this with the "step aside" initiative. While corruption in itself is a broad term, it does rob us of opportunity.
This is a big deal because we all perceive the environment that we live in to be one of opportunity, so when we are robbed of that, it is detrimental to our mental health.
The question isn't whether we have enough money or resources, but whether public officials can put them to good use.
If your grandfather, right before he dies, leaves behind a book that holds the secret to ending the curse invoked on your bloodline, but you are illiterate, that book is useless to you.
We do have the resources, what we need now are competent individuals to allocate them in a way that we are all left better off. We are tired of promises that only sound good to our ears and it ends there. If you don't serve, then excuse yourself.
There have been several charges against public officials guilty of some corrupt activity. Again, we will not win this battle overnight, but this is a good move towards the right direction. All hail Mr President.
