READER LETTER | Inspiring to see youth register with the IEC

It was very encouraging to learn about the high numbers of youth that turned out to register with the IEC for the upcoming national elections.

It was very encouraging to learn about the high numbers of youth that turned out to register with the IEC for the upcoming national elections.

They have every reason to want to be actively involved in matters that directly determine what kind of future they can expect. Those of us who grew up and lived a good part of our lives during apartheid, joined the workforce in different industrial sectors early enough to start preparing for our future goals.

It is therefore very sad that the youth today are not in a position to do any of that, because of the high unemployment rate. But it’s not enough to just register and stay away from the polls.

Go out there and make your mark, choose a party with good intentions for the country and in that way you might open doors that have been closed to a bright future for you. Vote wisely.
