With just a few hours left until Cassper Nyovest and Anga “Naakmusiq” Makubalo head to the boxing ring for the most spoken about fight, both musicians say they feel confident in their strategy to win the title.
Crowds of fans, celebrities and influencers have all gathered at Sun City in the North West for the weekend to witness history in the making of SA’s very first celebrity face-off.
The weekend also includes performances by popular musicians such as Kamo Mphela, Big Zulu, Zakes Bantwini, DJ Zinhle and many more.
As it took discipline and months of training from both celebrity heavyweights to prep for the boxing match, they can’t wait to finally knock each other out in the ring and finally settle the debate of who’s the undisputed champion.
Cassper who has lost 18kg in 12 weeks explains that the past two weeks have been tough but now that it’s “showtime” all the hard work will finally pay off.
“I’m very confident that I’m going to win because I’ve never seen this guy box with anybody,” the rapper explains.
“I’ve only seen his boxing videos which I think are very weak but I know can’t be too over confident.
“However, if I see that Naak isn’t delivering the punches, I’m definitely going to knock him out early because I don’t want to lose any money — that’s what will happen if you’re the loser, you lose all the money.”
The Tito Mboweni hitmaker said he is planning on turning celebrity boxing into a big business and feels that the sport has taken a knock in popularity over the past few years.
Speaking on the key to victory, Naakmusiq said consistency in his delivery and making sure he doesn’t get hit by Cassper’s blows is what will help him win the title.
“I’m taking it easy. I’m getting as much rest as possible and I make sure I clear my mind ahead of the first,” Naak said.
“I’m feeling very confident that I will get that victory of Celeb City winner.”
The fight will take place at 6pm and will be broadcasted on SuperSport and YouTube.
