Boxing prospects Ishmael Kadri, Someer Mulla and Almighty Moyo produced combustible performances which eventually turned out to be what the doctor ordered for the freezing conditions inside a packed Booysens Gym on Saturday night.

Surely some 600 die-hard boxing fans did not regret leaving the comfort of their homes to expose themselves to such chilly weather because action in that compact venue, which has become second most popular home for boxing in Gauteng – the first being Emperors Palace – was hot.

Big up to promoter Larry Wainstein who gave BSA 2023 Matchmaker of the Year Abbey Mnisi freedom to put together the type of match-making that talks to the fans.

Kadri and Gerald Titus had fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish of their hard-fought six-rounder.

In the end, Kadri emerged triumphant. Wainstein gave them a bonus of R3,000 each over and above their purse monies. Kadri is a real force to be reckoned with while Titus's bravery was his worst enemy as he took unnecessary severe punishment.

The same happened to Andile Majozi who took punishment from Mull throughout their four-rounder in the junior featherweight class while Moyo sent Xolani Salimane into slumber land in the third round.

Fan-favourite Njabulo Mhlungu and Vuyo Mpahosa shared spoils in their drawn four-rounder in the lightweight.

Lerato Dlamini did not break a sweat in his second round knockout of Tanzanian Hamidu Kwata while Deejay Kriel had to dig deeper in his reserve to emerge victorious in what was a topsy turvy affair with tough Namibian Jafet Amukwa over 10 rounds.

Kriel won the fight by a unanimous points decision. Two judges aptly scored it 96-94 while the third judge's score of 92-98 did not reflect the complexion of the contest.

Other results:

Aron Muteba beat Simopiwe Ntombela TKO 4; Eric Kazadi bt Penitence Duma on points over four rounds.
