Pitso Mosimane not obsessed with 'La Decima'

Downplaying winning what would be the club’s 10th league title, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso is already satisfied with his team’s achievements this season.

Downplaying winning what would be the club’s 10th league title, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso is already satisfied with his team’s achievements this season.

Sundowns still have a realistic chance to win the league as they’re second on the log on 56 points, level with leaders Kaizer Chiefs, who are at the summit by virtue of a superior goal difference (21), having managed three goals more than the Brazilians.

Sundowns face relegation-fighting Black Leopards in the season finale at Dobsonville Stadium tomorrow (3.30pm). Chiefs battle it out with Baroka, a relegation endangered side as well, at Bidvest Stadium at the same time.

The Tshwane giants would pip Chiefs to the championship by just winning against Leopards and hope they fail to beat Baroka or score five unanswered goals, praying that if the Glamour Boys win they win by at least one goal.

If their 3-0 win over Polokwane City on Wednesday is anything to go by, Downs are more than capable of scoring avalanche goals tomorrow. Against Rise and Shine, the Brazilians struck via Anele Ngcongca, Themba Zwane and Keletso Makgalwa.

Winning “La Decima” (the 10th league title) is every Brazilians fan’s dream, but Mosimane has calmed the expectations and gave an impression that they won’t mind Chiefs winning it.

“You have to give also a chance to Chiefs. They have not won anything in the last six years or five years. They are a big team. They deserve something to be honest and they fought for it,’’ said Mosimane.

Sundowns have already won a trophy (Telkom Knockout) this season and they’re in the Nedbank Cup final, where they’ll face Bloemfontein Celtic at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday. Mosimane counts these as  accomplishments, insisting you can’t win all the cups.

“It's okay, you can't win everything. You can't be ungrateful. You can't get everything. Of course we are fighting for everything but if you make it to the semifinals of MTN8, you win Telkom and you make it to the final of the Nedbank Cup, it's okay.’’
