Defender Edwin Gyimah has seemingly fallen out with management at Black Leopards.

Gyimah was seen leaving the Dobsonville Stadium hurriedly with packed luggage after their 0-3 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

The Ghanaian international played in that defeat which saw Leopards drop to the play-off place where they will meet Ajax Cape Town at FNB Stadium today at 3pm in their first match.

According to insiders, Gyimah left camp without informing anyone at the club and has not returned and will not take part in Leopards' play-off matches.

“No-one knows why he left the camp or what made him get so angry that he just packed his bags and left,” a source told Sowetan yesterday.

“After the game, he went to the dressing room, changed the kit and left. He didn’t talk to anyone, even players. He left without saying anything.

“He asked to be substituted in that game which didn't happen, so maybe that’s another reason why he was upset.”

Gyimah could not be reached for comment as he rejected Sowetan's calls yesterday, while Leopards' general manager Tshifhiwa “Chief” Thidiela claimed not to know anything about the defender's sudden departure.

In the past, the 29-year-old had a fallout with then-Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral after the two were seen involved in an altercation at Cape Town International Airport in September 2016 after playing Ajax Cape Town.

He was then released from his Pirates contract in 2017 after he submitted a request to leave the club. He played for Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon in 2017, and never returned to Pirates post-tournament.

Gyimah joined Leopards in October as a free agent after parting ways with Bidvest Wits where he struggled for game time. He had a good season with Lidoda Duvha, having played 23 matches in all competitions. His contract has ended and the team was prepared to offer him an extension, Sowetan was informed.
