Baroka new signing Decide Chauke is planning to score 10 goals in his first season with the club in the DStv Premiership.
Chauke joined Bakgaga on a three-year deal from TS Sporting, where he was outstanding in the GladAfrica Championship.
He finished his campaign with the Mpumalanga-based side with nine goals and wants to translate that to the Premiership in the new season.
“I’m so happy to have joined the club and I’m looking forward to play in the DStv Premiership from next season,” Chauke told Sowetan on Monday.
“I didn’t leave TS Sporting because I didn’t want to play for them any more. It was about time that I play in the Premiership and showcase my talent.
“There is nothing I can promise to people besides that I’m going to do what the club wants me to do, which is scoring goals and helping them.”
The 25-year-old was also believed to be on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs in the previous seasons, but nothing came of it due to the transfer ban imposed on them by Fifa and he stayed with Sporting.
Last season, Baroka scored 28 goals in the league and the team hope the arrival of Chauke will improve on that tally in the new campaign.
“I plan to get 10 or more goals in my first season and that will show that I’m doing well and that I’m on the Right track,” he said. “It won’t be easy, but with hard work anything is possible. I will work hard at training to make sure I score enough goals and help the team achieve their target next season.
“I know playing in the GladAfrica and DStv is different, but I’m looking forward to the challenge and, hopefully, I will adjust in time to help the team. I’m so excited to have joined this club and I can’t wait to start with my new teammates.”
Baroka also signed Athenkosi Dlala from the University of Pretoria as they continue to strengthen the team for next season.
