New Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has vowed to do his utmost best and uplift the brand to bring success back.

Motaung Jr's appointment follows that of former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki as head of technical and development last month, as the club aim to find success after six years of decline. Stuart Baxter has also been confirmed as head coach.

Through a statement, the club clarified what Motaung's role would be. “Among many important responsibilities that the position entails is he will be driving increased levels of performance and effectiveness throughout all the areas of the club’s football operations,” the statement read.

“He will work with the head of technical, Ntseki, and football manager Bobby Motaung to promote a strong understanding of how each component of football operations can support the first team and academy, as well as recruitment of players and technical staff at all levels.”

Motaung Jr, who has been without a title at the club since he retired as a player in 2014, promised to bring changes.

“I will be working closely with technical staff members in driving our football philosophy from our first team down to our academy sides,” he told the club media department on Thursday.

“I will be working closely with the whole management in terms of our planning, the kind of players we will be recruiting. Working together with all the stakeholders and mapping forward the strategic direction of our football operations and how we are going to achieve our objectives moving forward.

“It also gives me a platform to be able to perform and work together with other business functions within the organisation. Be it marketing, your finance, your commercial, your digital, and other areas which are also a driving force to enable football to happen on the pitch.

“One thing I can promise with my hand up is, I will give my utmost best and do whatever it takes to uplift the name and the badge and the football acumen of this club. One thing I will always do for this club is to do anything in the best interest.”

Motaung Jr also added that he would use the experience he gained while at the club to make sure they are successful.

“It is a big honour to be able to put my hand forward and contribute to the success of this amazing institution. I’m looking forward to marking the way forward in our football journey.”
