According to Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler, his team have a slight advantage in their MTN8 semi-final against Swallows.
In 180 minutes of football, nothing could separate the two teams in the cup and league games.
However, there must be a winner in their second leg at the Dobsonville Stadium tomorrow at 6pm. The first leg ended in a goalless draw at the Cape Town Stadium last month, and last week Friday, the two teams played to another goalless draw in the league in Dobsonville.
“The one slight advantage is that we did not concede, and if we get an away goal, things could turn out different for Swallows. They are a tough team to break down. We have to bring our A-game tomorrow. We are motivated by the opportunity to score the vital away goal. We will be brave and fancy our chances,” said Tinkler during the virtual press conference yesterday.
Swallows put their head coach Brandon Truter on special leave last week, and assistant coach Simo Dladla is in charge.
However, Tinkler is not reading too much into the change in the technical team and believes that the opposition is still motivated to win the game.
“I expect slight tactical changes but the hunger and desire remain the same. There were differences in their build-up under Truter. We have studied Swallows and we expect Dladla to make a couple of changes to the starting line-up,” explained Tinkler.
Tinkler said his players were motivated to reach the cup final, and they would take the game to Swallows from the onset.
“You do not want to go and play at the same stadium at the back of a loss against the same opponent. It was important to get a positive result. We have a chance to get to the final of the MTN8. It was an important result, leading up to the return leg,”
